Way Ahead 2019
Our members and committee recently enjoyed a lovely weekend at Yarnfield Park for the 2019 Way Ahead.
During the weekend of Friday 5 July – Sunday 7 July our members and volunteers joined other branches and groups from all over the country for the annual Way Ahead Event.
We heard from a variety of speakers including Chris Bryant MP who has been a tireless champion for brain injury survivors, families and carers in Parliament. During his talk he explained why ABI matters to him, and how awareness of ABI in Parliament has changed. Chris is a great advocate for raising awareness of ABI and as well as chairing the All-Party Parliamentary Group on ABI, he has raised ABI issues in debates ranging from mental capacity, welfare benefits to education and probation.
Annually there are several workshops to take part in, on a voluntary basis. It is always great to have the freedom and choice of choosing the topics that best suit you. Our members were able to engage in a series of talks and debates throughout the weekend as well as use the weekend as an opportunity to meet new people and build new friendships.
The event was a great success and we hope more of you can join us next year for Way Ahead 2020.
